Her first endeavor came when she started Laced Productions, a home-based recording & production studio. Lacey attended the University of the Arts for three years, before she decided to pursue music full time. Because I had never had any music/voice training, I used that background to get me closer to a musical environment. “I developed my visual art talent from my mother who is an artist. After she graduated high school, Lacey moved away from friends and family to Philadelphia where she attended The University of the Arts on a scholarship for visual art. She realized how little opportunity there would be for her if she stayed in Bolivar. As she grew older, she faced criticism from those around her, but her desire to sing only became stronger. Although country music was the popular choice of her peers, Lacey was naturally drawn to R&B, soul, and hip-hop. At the age of four, she spent most of her time listening to and studying songs by artists like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Her earliest memories in life were of music and her desire to sing. Lacey was born the youngest of six, on Apin the rural area of Bolivar, Missouri.

So I love drawing the crowd in and breaking that stereotype!”- Lacey Because of how I look, most people don’t expect me to sound the way I do. “One of my favorite things about performing is that moment when I really connect with an audience for the first time. She takes a moment to look out across the crowd, getting a sense of their anticipation, she smiles and lets out a powerful, “H-e-l-l-o? How you doing tonight?” Again she pauses, smiles, and sings out an even more powerful, “I said, h-e-l-l-o? Are you feelin’ alright? I need you’re energy!!! Let me hear ya’ll screeeaaam!!!” The crowd waits silently and watches intently as Lacey crosses the stage and steps to the microphone. The audience waits with a look of curiosity as Lacey, the ivory toned, green-eyed R&B newcomer is introduced onto the stage of a venue responsible for bringing up artists like Jill Scott and The Roots.
